TYNGSBOROUGH – Ferdinand Peter van der Steur, Jr., age 77, a resident of Tyngsborough and formerly of Billerica, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017, at his home, with his family by his side.  He was the loving husband of Maria Lucy (Gonzalez) van der Steur, with whom he would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in November.

Born in India on May 22, 1940, he was a son of the late Ferdinand Pieter van der Steur, Sr. and the late Dorothy C. (Carr) van der Steur.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a maintenance mechanic for the Polaroid Company in Waltham.

Peter loved nature and all it had to offer, fishing, bird watching and he also enjoyed woodworking.  But most of all he loved being a big dreamer.
