Mrs. Effie Christine (Waldrep) Bell

1924- 2017

 

TYNGSBOROUGH – Mrs. Effie Christine (Waldrep) Bell, age 92, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, died on February 24, 2017 at the Westford House.  She was the wife of the late Harold O. Bell, Jr. who died in 1999.  

Born in Poplar Creek, Alabama on May 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Hillary Lelton and Lois (Johnson) Waldrep.

She was a longtime member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Chelmsford and held membership in the Puritan Chapter #54, Order of the Eastern Star.

Christine was also involved with the Middlesex County 4-H Fair for several years.

Later in life, she took lessons to learn how to paint and had much enjoyment with her creations.

She is survived by six daughters and five sons in law, Sharyn A. Bell Gwin and her husband Michael of MD, Janice E. Bell-Ridgley of FL, Suzanne L. Dotson and her husband Jeffrey of VA, Beth M. Bell Lavoie and her husband Robert of Windham, NH, Deborah L. Lagasse and her husband Ronald of Tyngsborough and Lauri J. Somers and her husband Craig of Tyngsborough; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Joyce E. Bell of Merrimack, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Harold O. Bell III, grandmother of the late, Steven Douglas Bell, Mark Steven Bell Ridgley and Ariana Christine Somers, and sister of the late Hillary Lelton “Shorty” Waldrep and Rayburn Waldrep.

 

BELL – Mrs. Effie Christine (Waldrep) Bell.  Services will be held privately for her family in the spring.  Burial will take place in the family lot at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.  Those wishing may make a memorial donation to the Harold O. Bell, Jr. Scholarship Fund, c/o Greater Lowell Technical High School, 250 Pawtucket Blvd., Tyngsborough, MA 01879.
