Loving mother and grandmother

Mrs. Arlene M. (Laferriere) Normandin, age 81, a longtime resident of Lowell, died peacefully on Monday evening, June 12, 2017, with her family by her side.  She was the wife of the late James G. Normandin and the late Paul Wastchak. 

Born in Lowell on April 1, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Henry C. and Jeannette (Asselin) Laferriere.

She was educated in the Lowell school system and had attended mass at St. Joseph the Worker Shrine.

Arlene was employed as a waitress for several years at the former George’s Restaurant in Lowell and in the cafeteria at the former Wang Laboratories.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved playing bingo.

Surviving her are a daughter, Gerri Holgerson and her significant other Randall Johnson of FL; a son and daughter in law, Paul and Heatha Normandin of NH; four grandchildren, AJ Holgerson and his wife Allison of MN, John Holgerson of FL, Robert Holgerson of FL and Willow Normandin of NH; three brothers, Henry C. Laferriere of Haverhill, Gilbert Laferriere of Pelham and David Laferriere of Lowell; a sister, Beatrice Roe Derer of CA; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was also the sister of the late Gloria Laflamme, Dolores Soucier, Jeannette Hargreaves, Jeannie Pienta and Michael Laferriere and she was also the mother in law of the late Albert Holgerson.

NORMANDIN – Mrs. Arlene M.
